The artist
Born in1981, Northern India, M. Debarshi began painting at the age of 11. His work holds a rich tapestry of feeling, reflected by his own philosophy of life, love and the nature of humanity.
“There is something unchanging and ancient in all of us; it is the necessity of being loved always.” Unknowingly, this simple reason had embodied the basis of my works since childhood.
I am slowly getting to realise the special reasons that inspired me to paint and finding a way into this book is one of them.
At a very early age I became fascinated with Renaissance paintings and continued forth towards formal Impressionism, trying my hand at everything I came across.
I believe we all can appreciate everything that happens in life when we start perceiving life in the way of Love, as every journey would still continue ending in lovers’ meetings for centuries to come.
All these experiences which form the real testimonies of our lives must be looked at with a little more compassion so we lose rivals and bad pasts’ in withering memory but never our loved ones.
Personally I don’t like to think about reality and unfitting things, I would rather buy a reality that is more ‘beautiful’ than ‘painful’, given the fact that we may find ourselves equally stupid when we are dead realising that what we are ‘living’ through is only a perpetual dream. Why not risk to dream what we want and not what it is being seen?
For me, art has a great role to play in everyone’s life and it’s in the nature of Poetry (unlike mathematics) to transform every happy and sad story into a ‘beautiful’ story. This forms my description for ‘beauty’ and a realisation that we let, whatever we all are living through, be poetry in itself.
The paintings finding a space here are a part of that journey.
